2019 MWWA’s Life Expo Report

In 2018, the Muslim Women’s Welfare of Australia (MWWA) hosted a very successful event when it launched its inaugural Women’s Life Expo.

Since then, women in the community expected and anticipated to enjoy the same event yet again.   And sure enough the 2019 International Women’s day marked season two of the Women’s Life Expo which was a massive event held for the women in the community by the women in the community.

The expo was put together with the drive to provide women a platform to have access to professional services, to seek advice, to support local businesses and most importantly to network and enjoy  meeting, greeting, and socialising with other women in the community.

Stemming from the concept of women supporting other women, as well as spreading awareness,  the expo began with the aim of providing information concerning key health topics,  while offering service providers a place to connect with the public directly.

This year, the expo was held on March 9th and has attracted over 20 small businesses

that came together to offer  a vast range of services, products and opportunities. The expo has focused not only on health issues but also on all things relevant to women’s life.

The stalls ranged from offering organic food, home décor, food storage, gardening, dental care, women’s health, photography and talents, arts and crafts, literature, beauty, fitness, fashion to  much more!

Upon arrival at the expo, the large crowd was offered a free bag of goodies and ushered into a vibrant and buzzing atmosphere to find themselves mingling with the stallholders, seeking information and even scoring a good bargain on some products on display.

The fun and excitement did not stop there, the crowd of attendees also enjoyed live shows that were held every 20 minutes around topics related to women’s life and health where prizes  were given out at the end of each segment.

The formal program was launched with an inspirational speech by the President of MWWA, Mrs Faten El Dana OAM who spoke about the importance of supporting women in the community and the work MWWA does to empower women through awareness and education.  That was followed by other speeches of support and encouragements from the special guests who attended the expo, namely; Member of Holsworthy Ms Melanie Gibbons representing NSW Premier Ms Gladys Berejiklian, NSW Senator Mehreen Faruqi, and Domestic Violence Campaigner; Ms Pallavi Sinha.

The 2019 expo, the second consecutive Expo that was partially supported by Multicultural NSW, has proven to be as successful as the first one with a large crowd of women attending. The event provided a variety of interactive demonstrations about gardening, healthy food preparation, home styling, essential oils and so much more.

The Expo concluded by presenting the stall holders and some of the volunteers with a certificate of appreciation.

MWWA would like to thank all the special guests, the stall holders for their valuable participation, the attendees, and last but not least the volunteers both behind the seen and on the ground for their hard work and dedication.
