MWWA Women’s Life skills: Workshop 2

The first successful session of a series of the MWWA Life Skills Workshops was held on Saturday the 7th of September 2019. The focus was on having a better opportunity to obtain employment by learning the essentials of writing the perfect resume and the different ways of blending essential oils.

The second session was held on Saturday the 5th of October 2019, where many interested women signed up to learn about cake decorating and interview skills. This workshop proved to be just as popular as the first giving the attendees the opportunity to learn about cake decorating skill.

The women were attentive in both workshops as they raised questions during the first workshop about preparing for a job interview and discussed scenarios where they were unsuccessful in attaining a job. They took on board the advice of Ms Rayan Kabbout, who is a HR Consultant, who with her experience, advice and insight was able to provide the attendees with enough information to assist in their job interviews!

During the second segment of the workshop, the women were presented with a hands-on session of cake decorating headed by dessert hobbyist Walla Abu-Eid who gave a short demonstration on how to make a basic buttercream and using piping skills to apply the buttercream. Everyone was excited to have the opportunity to test out their own skills by piping buttercream onto their own cupcakes which they also took home to enjoy!

The attendees clearly enjoyed their time and demonstrated their talent by adding their own touch to decorating the cupcakes with sprinkles and confectionery that in an inviting and inventive manner!

At the conclusion of the session, the President of MWWA, Mrs Faten El Dana OAM, commended the women on their effort and thanked them for attending. She spoke about the work of MWWA in the community and about future events that would also benefit them. The women were then invited to enjoy a delicious hot lunch.

Not only was the workshop extremely beneficial, fun and accommodating but the women walked out very keen on attending other upcoming workshops in this fantastic series of Life Skills.

The MWWA is honoured to provide women in the community the opportunity to gain such useful skills that are proven to open doors and give the women confidence in tackling any future possible employment.

Finally, the attendees expressed their appreciation to the staff and volunteers of MWWA and requested more educational workshops in the future.
