2015 MWWA Iftar Dinner
Under the theme: “Happiness through worship” the Muslim Women’s Welfare of Australia hosted its annual Iftar, encouraging community spirit, charity and harmony. The event was attended by many women including
students, converts and members of the ethnic community. The evening started with a beautiful Qur’anic recitation followed by an inspirational speech delivered by Hajjeh Faten El Dana OAM, the president the MWWA organisation. The speech emphasised good traits, manners and acts of obedience during the holy month of Ramadan. The speech discussed the importance of showing generosity and care to those experiencing loneliness of hardship.
Competitions were conducted which challenged the culinary expertise of the audience with winners taking home prizes from MWWA. The iftar was concluded by
a lovely performance by the Malayan chanter, Iman Ferrar. Her chant entitled, the Veil was representative of the role of the Hijab to the identity of Muslim Women, as a mark of their faith and the devotion to Islam.
We would like to thank all who attended this wonderful event, and hope to see you all again in our upcoming events In sha’ Allah. Ramadan- Happiness through worship.
